Free 8 × 10 Lustre Test Prints
Artsy Couture offers up to five free 8 × 10 Lustre test prints through our downloadable ROES ordering software.
Test prints allow you to:
- Evaluate Artsy Couture’s Lustre paper and print quality
- Compare the finished prints with the images displayed on your monitor
- Review your monitor calibration and editing workflow
- Evaluate brightness, color, contrast, saturation, and skin tones
- Build confidence before placing an important client order
Test prints are produced without Artsy Couture Color Corrections. This allows you to evaluate how your prepared files reproduce through our printing process without adjustments from our Color Specialists.
How to Order Test Prints
Test prints are available through Artsy Couture ROES, not through the Artsy Couture website ordering system.
ROES is a desktop ordering application that must be downloaded to a compatible computer.
To get started:
- Download Artsy Couture ROES.
- Sign in using your Artsy Couture account.
- Locate the Test Prints option in ROES.
- Add up to five images to the available 8 × 10 Lustre print templates.
- Carefully review each image and crop before submitting the order.
You must be connected to the internet to submit your ROES order.
Preparing Files for Your Test Prints
For the most useful comparison, use the same file preparation and editing process you plan to use for future orders.
Before submitting your test prints:
- Calibrate your monitor with a colorimeter
- Review the images in consistent, neutral lighting
- Confirm that each image uses an accepted color space
- Check the image resolution and crop
- Disable Color Corrections when comparing your own edits with our output
- Use the appropriate Artsy Couture ICC profile for soft proofing, if desired
ICC profiles should be used for soft proofing only. Do not convert your image to an Artsy Couture ICC profile or embed the profile in the finished image file.
Review our ICC Profiles guide for available profiles and setup instructions.
Comparing Your Test Prints With Your Monitor
A printed image and a monitor will not look completely identical. A monitor produces light, while a print reflects the light in the room.
For a useful comparison:
- Allow the monitor to warm up and confirm that it is calibrated.
- View the print under consistent, neutral lighting.
- Compare overall brightness, color balance, saturation, contrast, and skin tones.
- Avoid evaluating the print under strongly colored, unusually dim, or overly bright lighting.
- Use what you learn to adjust your monitor, editing environment, or image preparation workflow.
A test print represents the specific file, paper, and printing process used for that order. Other paper finishes and product surfaces may reproduce color, contrast, and detail differently.
Color Corrections on Future Orders
Test prints are intentionally produced without Color Corrections. For regular orders, Artsy Couture Color Corrections are available if you would like our trained Color Specialists to review the overall image.
Color Corrections may include adjustments to:
- Brightness and density
- Overall color balance
- Saturation
- Contrast
- Skin tones
Color Corrections are not retouching and do not include edits to specific objects or areas within an image.
If you manage your own color using a calibrated monitor and Artsy Couture ICC profiles, you may choose to order without Color Corrections. Otherwise, Color Corrections are recommended to help achieve the best available output.
Learn more in our Color Corrections guide.
